Cameron Highlands: cool weather, emerald tea plantations and beautiful jungle walks

Cameron Highlands, in central Peninsular Malaysia, comprises a series of mountain villages at altitudes between 1.500 and 1.800 m.

This fertile area has become the center of the tea industry in Malaysia, where locals and foreigners flock to avoid the heat of the plains. Attractions include jungle walks, waterfalls, tea plantation tours, beautiful gardens, and abundant wildflowers. The cool weather tempts visitors to play golf, tennis, and long walks. But Cameron Highlands is, in fact, the Malaysian capital of rest for those who do not enjoy the beach and prefer to wallow in colonial nostalgia.

Apart from the tea estates, which remain a main attraction, the Cameron Highlands are also home to lavender and strawberry farms; orchards; herbal gardens and nurseries; and the Mossy Forest boardwalk, an always-foggy tropical evergreen environment with designated footpaths to see the local flora and fauna up close.
