Kuala Lumpur: a skyline punctuated by minarets, Mogul-style domes and skyscrapers; colorful, food-stall-lined streets shaded by a leafy canopy of banyan trees.
One hundred thirty years, Kuala Lumpur has grown from a rather uninteresting place to become a modern, bustling city of over one million inhabitants.
Although at first impression may seem that KL (as the locals call it) is one among the new Asian metropolis of gleaming skyscrapers, survives its peculiar character and colorful native who has been so effectively erased in other booming cities in Asia, like Singapore. KL still has many colonial buildings in downtown, a vibrant Chinatown with street vendors and night markets and an Indian district teeming with life. Skyscrapers Petronas Twin Towers, one of the world's highest buildings dominate the skyline, and in Merdeka Square stands a flagpole of 95m. in height. The Chinatown night Market has become one of the most recommended places for dinner.
